Seyhan Municipality, under the leadership of Seyhan Mayor Akif Kemal Akay, has restored and reintegrated Adana’s historic buildings into the city life, and has begun restoration works to transform the historic “Old Station” building into a “Taste Station” “. There will also be a “Kitchen Museum” in the historic building, which will play an important role in promoting the flavors of Adana to the world.

RESTORATION WORKS STARTED

The historic Old Station building, a registered cultural property opened in 1886 for the transportation of cotton produced in Çukurova from Adana to England, was expropriated by the Seyhan Municipality.

IT IS BEING CONVERTED INTO A GASTRONOMY CENTER

After the expropriation of the adjacent plot and the plot on the E-5 highway, restoration works were started in line with the prepared project to give the building a function. After completion of the restoration, the “Old Station” building will serve the public as a gastronomic center with new buildings to be built and dining cars that will be placed in the garden.

‘KITCHEN MUSEUM’ IS ESTABLISHED

A ‘Kitchen Museum’ will also be realized in the two-storey block of the registered building, and the historic building will also play an important role in promoting Adana’s culinary culture.

‘TRIAL STATION’ WILL BE SUITABLE IN ADANA

While examining the restoration works, Mayor Akif Kemal Akay noted that the municipality is providing services with all its facilities to make Seyhan a more livable city.

Mayor Akay pointed out that Adana, which has hosted many civilizations throughout history, is one of the leading cities with its fertile agricultural lands and deep-rooted manufacturing history, and emphasized that the old station is a building that makes an important contribution to the economy of the city and country.
