The instant messaging application has just been updated on Windows. Now faster, it has a new interface modeled after the mobile application and can accommodate up to 32 audio call participants.

If you’re using WhatsApp from a Windows PC, it’s time to update your app. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp messages, has just announced the implementation of the brand new version of its desktop application. After several months of intense updates to add new features to the mobile versions of its application, WhatsApp is attacking its desktop application for Windows, with speed as the keyword.

A faster and more mobile Windows version

The messaging application may be used primarily on mobile phones, but it now has several hundred million desktop users, such as the Meta Reminder on WhatsApp’s dedicated blog. It therefore seems quite logical that the company is exploring the possibilities of improving its messaging system on Windows. And there are many. In the latest update, available in the Microsoft Store, WhatsApp has decided to offer Windows users a new interface, closer to the existing one on mobile. But the developers have also done quite a bit of work under the hood.

With this update, Meta promises a faster responsive WhatsApp.” which loads faster than normal. But other improvements have also been integrated into the Windows application. It can now accommodate up to 32 participants when you make an audio call from your PC, and up to eight people for your video calls. These limits should also evolve over time, Meta indicates it wants to continue ” increase these limits over time so you can always stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues “.

Meta also explains that it has optimized the application’s “new multi-device capabilities”. Connecting multiple devices to the same WhatsApp account is a priori faster, while data synchronization has been improved.

Finally, WhatsApp’s parent company indicates that it has recently introduced a new version of WhatsApp, still in beta phase, intended for Android tablets. The site could still be quite lengthy, as the company has also started redesigning its macOS application, no doubt aiming to harmonize it with the new version of the application for Windows.
